My Day at the Theme Park

My grandson had been begging me to take him to the amusement park nearby where we live ever since it opened a new roller coaster with all kinds of corkscrews and sudden drops. Lucky for us, Will’s just tall enough to ride on big rides like that and I’m a runner that’s in much better shape than most of my other friends my age.

I finally agreed a few weeks ago to take him as a treat for doing so well in school this year and we waited in line for almost 30 minutes to ride the coaster – and we went on a Wednesday! As we were climbing the first hill, Will tried to tell me something but no matter how much I tried, I couldn’t hear him. And he was strapped into the seat just a few inches beside me. The other passengers didn’t seem to have that much trouble hearing, so when I got home I researched hearing aids.

I think I’m almost ready to make a big purchase so next time I’ll even be able to hear my own screams as we plunge toward concrete.
